Community Awareness Program

Medical Social Workers connect patients and their families with necessary resources and support in the community,
providing them with supportive counseling and strengthening their network of resources.

Abcor Home Health is proud to now have an on-staff Medical Social Worker available
to support our clients and their families. We strive to assist members of the community in times of distress, crisis, and uncertainty. A Medical Social Worker acts as a client advocate, an educator, and an adviser while working to preserve the health and dignity
of the population they serve. They are able to educate as well as provide access to services related to health problems.

These services are offered free of charge to our members. Please contact us if you would
like to meet with our Licensed Medical Social Worker. Half-hour appointments are available every Tuesday from 1:30 to 5:30 PM and can be conducted at our Arlington Heights location (3201 N. Wilke Rd) or over the phone.

Please call (847) 670-8268 to schedule an appointment today.

How can your caregiver help you get through the Holiday Season?

The holiday season is finally here, and for all of us it is simultaneously a happy
and extremely busy time. For many families, it is a chance to gather together, share a meal and celebrate.

Though there are definitely perks to doing things that are out of the ordinary,
we’ve found that it is also important to maintain a focus on your daily routine.  Your homemaker will complete his/her normal cleaning routine to make your home nice and comfortable. They will also ensure you have clean sheets, towels, and clothing for the
holidays.

If you would like to enjoy some simple holiday decorations, your homemaker can
assist you. (Please note that Christmas trees and outside lights are excluded.) A festive environment can help in coping with chronic health issues and winter weather.

Your homemaker can assist with making calls and sending greetings to your family
and friends. This includes helping to write and send holiday cards.

Homemakers can help you prepare a simple festive meal. They cannot assist with
larger family dinners, but they can help you with preparatory tasks such as making a grocery list, going shopping for you, and unpacking the groceries when they return.

Happy holidays from the whole team here at Abcor Home Health!
